New Decal; Goodbye Door Wraps

Looking at many of the pictures of the truck, you’ll see that I used to have matte black vinyl on the doors. I did this because I’ve always liked the look of fabric doors, but it really didn’t serve any kind of purpose. All that happened was the vinyl got super pinstriped on the trails, which I knew would happen.

I was kind of losing interest in the two-tone on the doors, and I’m sure some people will understand that because that change was probably the most polarizing of all the mods I’ve made. You either loved it or hated it.

I decided to rip it off and install a decal on both sides of the truck. Removing so much vinyl required a ton of RapidRemover, which I would highly recommend if you're doing something similar. This decal was a massive pain in the ass to install, and I definitely learned some lessons in the process (including having to trash one and reorder).

Really big fan of the look. Also, without pissing half of the world off, I’ll just say that I’d personally much rather be associated with “outdoors” than “get er done, love me some trucks y’all!” It’s a cool, unique thing that I think gives the truck some character.

As far as install, if you’re looking to do this, I would highly recommend a wet install. I used RapidTac, which was an absolute lifesaver. Have a kit like this handy, too. If you start to screw up, no big deal, just spray some of that and you’re good to go. The other piece of advice is that if you’re dealing with a tree decal, remove the backing paper UP, not left to right or vice versa. On my first pass, I tore like half of the trees. The upward motion made it 100x easier. Zero tears, zero bubbles.
