Falcon Shocks & Stabilizer Settings

Updated: Oct 19, 2021

Note: currently running Medium-6

Shocks

I am a huge fan of the Falcon 3.3 shocks. Smooth, great adjustability, and (relatively) affordable price point. I have toyed with various settings and although I'm sure to change them again someday, here are my current settings:

Off-Road: 1-Soft, obviously

On-Road: 2-Medium and 8 (maxed) on the micro-adjust. I don't mind a bouncy ride at all, and for that reason, I'd be satisfied driving the truck on 1-Soft. But, at highway speeds and in Colorado wind, you would need to have a death wish as steering becomes near-impossible.

On a recent road trip, I kept the shocks on 3-Firm, which made for a much safer and less-erratic highway drive. However, it was a tiny bit harsher of a ride than I would've preferred. After setting to 2-Medium and 8 micro, it felt like a nice balance.

Assuming I can get some steering parts swapped out by Jeep via the TSB, I may drop the micro setting down to 4-6 or so. Right now I'm only keeping the suspension on the stiffer side to prevent massive steering corrections made worse by wind.

Steering Stabilizer

I've been waiting for months to get my hands on a Synergy brace but there's no end in sight. Now with the TSB, hopefully that resolves some steering concerns. However, in the meantime, I decided to give the Falcon 2.2 Stabilizer a shot.

It may only treat the symptoms of the steering issues, rather than the root cause, but I'm OK with that in the short-term. Thus far, I'm really, really happy with it.

Off-Road: Soft. I've driven in the Medium setting, and that's fine, too. Just nice to have less resistance off-road, which should come as no surprise. I've found this to be just a bit looser than stock.

On-Road: Firm. I keep it on Firm at all times. The main reason is that it eliminates a fair amount of input required to offset the flawed stock steering. The steering wheel is slow to return to center when set to Firm, but I'll take it for the drastically-reduced fear of swerving into oncoming traffic.

Once the TSB is cared for (which will probably be in late October), I will likely adjust down to Medium and keep it there unless off-roading.
